Upload From Phone & Download Video With QR Codes
Send a video, GIF or background image from your phone to your computer, then scan a QR code to download the finished file. Steps and limits.
· Updated:

You can send a video, GIF or background image from your phone to the desktop uploader with a QR code, then scan a separate code to download the finished file on your phone. Both devices need internet, but they do not need the same account login, Wi-Fi network or a USB cable. QR transfer moves a file; it does not start AI processing, change the output format or buy credits.
How do I upload a video from my phone to my computer?
On a desktop computer, open the video background remover and choose Upload from phone beside the upload form. The button appears on devices with a mouse or trackpad, including narrow desktop windows. On a phone, use its normal file picker when working directly on the site.
- Leave the desktop tab open and open the QR dialog.
- Scan the code with your phone camera. It opens a page on this website.
- Select one video or GIF, review the temporary-upload notice, and tap Send to computer. Keep the phone page open during transfer.
- Wait for File received on the computer. The file appears in the same uploader used for a local file, including its preview and processing choices.
- Choose your quality and output, check the credit estimate, and start processing separately.
AI source clips use the same 60-second and 200-MB limits as ordinary uploads. MP4, MOV, WebM and GIF are supported containers; some codecs still need conversion before they can be processed. Transferring a file does not make an unsupported codec compatible.
Can I send a background image from my phone?
Yes. Open Change video background, then choose Send a background image from your phone beside the image option. Scan that code and select a JPG, PNG or WebP image up to 10 MB. The computer loads it into the background preview. This image code is separate from the source-video code; sending an image does not replace the source clip.
HEIC and HEIF are not accepted by this background-image transfer. If your phone keeps a picture in HEIC, export a JPG or PNG copy first. A still image is a replacement background here; this feature does not turn the video remover into a still-photo background remover.
How do I download my result on my phone?
When the result is ready, select Download on phone next to its download control on the computer. Scan the code, check the file name on the phone page, then tap Download file. A normal finished cloud result is streamed as a download; you do not have to sign into the desktop account on the phone.
For a browser-made GIF or a video composed over an image or blur, finish that export on the computer first. Use the QR button next to that exported file. A browser-only file is uploaded temporarily for transfer, so preparing its download code can take longer. The transfer limit for these exports is 200 MB; larger local exports still use the normal desktop download.
The QR code for a finished composite or GIF refers to that exported file. It does not substitute the original transparent cut-out or claim that a preview is the final export.
Does a free preview still have one download?
Yes. The free AI preview keeps its corner watermark and has one download total, shared by computer and phone. Opening the QR dialog, scanning the code or viewing the phone page does not consume the download. Tapping Download file does. If you already downloaded on one device, the other cannot take a second download. Changing devices does not reset the trial.
This restriction applies to the watermarked AI preview. Paid results and free locally processed exports keep their existing download rules. QR transfer does not make paid processing free; see current prices and credit rules.
What expires, and who can use the code?
QR links expire after up to 20 minutes, and a result's existing expiry can shorten that period. The computer dialog shows the remaining time. Generate another code if needed. For an upload, closing the computer's dialog cancels that transfer, and each code is for one file. The phone does not get permission to browse your account or other files.
A download link is a temporary access link: anyone you share it with can use it while it is valid. Do not publish the code or paste it into a public chat. It grants access only to the selected file, not the account. A QR link expiring is not a promise of immediate physical deletion from storage. Transfer files use the website's temporary input storage; see the privacy policy for file handling.
Selecting and processing a file directly in a local GIF or green-screen tool is separate from QR transfer. The local processing step still happens in the browser. If you choose QR upload or a phone download for a browser-made result, that file is uploaded temporarily to transfer between devices. The transfer screen discloses this before sending.
Why does the downloaded video look different on my phone?
QR download preserves the selected file format. It does not convert WebM to MP4 or MOV to an iPhone Photos-compatible file. On iPhone, save the download in Files. A transparent video may look black, fail to preview in Photos or need an editor that understands its codec and alpha channel. This alone does not prove that transparency was lost.
Use transparent video formats to choose between alpha WebM, ProRes 4444 MOV, GIF and a flattened MP4. For composition, check the file in your exact editor version.
What should I check if transfer stops?
- Keep the desktop tab and the phone upload page open, and keep both devices online. A phone switching networks or locking its screen can interrupt upload.
- The QR dialog must still be open on the computer when the upload is delivered. If it was closed or expired, create a new code.
- Source video and transferable browser exports: 200 MB. The GIF-only maker accepts GIF files up to 20 MB. Background images: 10 MB.
- Use the appropriate code: a background-image code accepts JPG, PNG or WebP, while a video code accepts video/GIF containers.
- If a transfer fails, the interface shows an error. It does not automatically start a paid generation or make a purchase. Generate a new code and send again if instructed.
