How to blur a video background
- 01
Upload your clip
Drop an MP4, MOV, WebM or GIF up to 60 seconds and 50 MB.
- 02
Let AI separate the subject
The AI finds the person, pet or product in every frame. This uses 1 credit per second.
- 03
Choose the blur and export
Switch between light, medium and strong in the live preview, then export the blurred video in your browser.
Blur only what is behind the subject
A normal blur filter softens the whole frame, including your face. Here the AI first separates the subject from the background in every frame, and only the background is blurred. The subject is laid back on top at full sharpness, so the result looks like a shallow-focus lens.
Adjustable blur strength
You can switch strength as often as you like in the preview. It does not use more credits, because the blur is applied in your browser.
Light
Takes the edge off a busy room while the place is still recognisable.
Medium
The classic video-call look: shapes and colours stay, details disappear.
Strong
Turns the background into soft colour, good for private rooms and clean product shots.
Hide your room, not yourself
Blurring keeps the feel of a real place while hiding what is on the shelves, whiteboards or the people walking by. It is also more forgiving than a full cut-out: where the edge around hair is soft, the blurred room behind it hides the transition.
This tool blurs the whole background behind the subject. It does not blur a single area inside the frame, such as one face or a document. If you want the background gone instead, remove it or replace it.
Where the blur happens
Your clip is uploaded once so the AI can separate the subject. The blur itself is then rendered in your browser from the original video and the cut-out, which is why you can change the strength instantly. Preview and export need Chrome, Edge or Firefox, because Safari does not play transparent WebM.
Blur a video background on iPhone
iPhones can blur the background while you record in Cinematic mode, but not for videos you already shot. Upload an existing clip here from a computer, or from your phone using Chrome or Firefox, then download the blurred result.

No. Everything runs in the browser.
